My name is Mauranda Douglas. This is my first year at KCIA. It is my privilege to work alongside such dedicated, enthusiastic, and loving people. I have over 30 years of experience teaching English Language Arts and Reading. My teaching career began with the Los Angeles Unified School District where I taught first grade. After moving to the Kansas City area, I taught for 23 years in the Center School District. My education includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts from California State University in Education, a master’s degree from Kansas State University in Education with an emphasis in Multiculturalism, a Reading Specialist Certification from the University of Missouri Kansas City, and an Orton-Gillingham Certification in Reading. My husband and I have three adult children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and three adorable grandchildren. I enjoy reading, walking, and spending time with family and friends.
