My name is Katie Killeen and this is my 8th year at KCIA! I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska where I attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences. After graduating I worked for 5 years as a Para Educator in a local High School. It was my work in the Nebraska school system and my students that inspired me to go back to school for my education certificate. I moved to Kansas City after I got married in 2015, and I graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a Bachelors of Science in Middle School Education in 2018. I am currently enrolled in the UMKC Pathway to Leadership in Urban Schools (PLUS) program looking to receive my certification in Administration in December of 2026. My previous roles at KCIA were the 7th and 8th Grade Science teacher, the 4th/5th Grade Science instructional coach as well as a mentor for new teachers. This will be my 2nd year as the ELD Coordinator for the Middle School! During my free time I love to cook, dance, play with my son and daughter, spend time with my family, and listen to Korean Pop music! I am excited for a new year of learning at KCIA!
