I grew up in a military family and lived all over the United States, but Mississippi is where I spent the most time so I claim The ‘Sip as my home. I graduated from Mississippi College in 2017 with a Bachelors in Public Relations and a Minor in World Civilizations. While in college I was able to both have an international internship and study abroad. I interned in Mindanao, Philippines and studied abroad in London, United Kingdom. When I graduated university, I completed a literacy research internship during the 2017-2018 school year in Kathmandu, Nepal. I met my husband in 2018 while travelling and we got married during COVID in 2020. We have one daughter turning two in the fall of 2024 and we are expecting a baby in January 2025. I have lived in KC since 2018 and that’s when I joined KCIA staff as a building sub. Through the encouragement of Mr. David Leone, I worked to obtain my certification in teaching English grades 5-12. I have worked teaching 7th grade ELA since 2020 and I love it so much! I continue to love learning and am currently pursuing a LETRS certification. You can find me on my off days reading to my daughter, watching National Geographic documentaries, or playing with my two cats Agatha Christie Coonrod and Edgar Allen Poe-Coonrod.
