Mikael Spears – STEM

My name is Mikael Spears and this is my nineteenth year in education. I spent ten years in Kansas City, Kansas as a second grade teacher. I graduated from Rust College in 2000, earning my Bachelors in Mass Communication. I graduated from Pitt State University with my Masters Degree in Elementary Education in 2007. While I was at Rust College, I had the opportunity to study abroad in The Gambia for a summer and teach Science to K-3 students. Spending time with my family is a big part of my life. I am married, and we have four wonderful children. I enjoy reading, playing music with various local bands, building folkloric instruments, and studying Afro-Cuban folkloric percussion. I am looking forward to a great year at KCIA!
