Hi! I’m Mrs. Diaz and I am the 3rd grade science teacher here at Kansas City International Academy. This is my 8th year at KCIA! During my time here I have been an ELL specialist, special education teacher, and classroom teacher in grades 1 and 3. I completed my undergraduate studies at Northwest Missouri State University where I studied Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Early Childhood Special Education. Since starting my teaching career, I have also received certifications to teach K-12 English Language Learners and K-12 Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical Special Education. I’m a lifelong learner and I went on to complete a Master’s Degree from Missouri Western State University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I am currently working on two additional Master’s Degrees from American College of Education, one being in Curriculum & Instruction, and one being in Literacy. I sure do love learning! My husband and I have two dogs, Calvin and Ivy. In my free time I love traveling and spending time outdoors with my family, friends, and dogs. I enjoy fostering and volunteering with a local animal shelter. I’m excited for another great year at KCIA!
