Elise Ferdon – Middle School ELL Coordinator/Specialist

My name is Elise Ferdon, and this will be my 9th year in education as an English Language (EL) Specialist. I studied Spanish and linguistics at Truman State University, and started my career teaching English in adult ESL programs and as a school volunteer. I have a Masters in Education (Elementary) as well as certification for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Truman State University. I moved to Kansas City to teach beginning English courses at a charter high school and did so for 5 years. This will be my 4th year at KCIA. I first worked as an EL Specialist in 4th grade before moving to the middle school to be the EL Coordinator for grades 6-8th. My husband and I enjoy spending time outdoors, visiting our families, and learning all about the world around us. I am so thankful for the KCIA community and the positive learning environment it has fostered; students truly do learn to thrive here!
