My name is Lauren Weeks and I am the sixth grade English Language arts (ELA) teacher. Back in 2009, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, and I worked with a college for six years as a Financial Aid Coordinator and then a Compliance Coordinator. I realized my true passion was teaching and decided to go back to school in 2014. In December of 2016, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with my Master’s Degree in teaching and my certification to teach English Language arts. I started working at KCIA two days after I graduated, and I am so thankful to be a part of this family! The ELA department at KCIA adopted a new program called Wit and Wisdom this year, and I am so excited to see how the children grow, learn and challenge themselves with this engaging and rigorous program. I am also excited to coach cross country this fall, as KCIA formed a team for 7th and 8th graders! I have many exciting things happening in my personal life! My spunky, beautiful little girl (Maddie) will be four in February, I got married in April 2019, and we are expecting another baby in April 2020! When I do get some free time, I love to read, run, go to the movies, craft, and hang out with family and friends. I am so excited for another fantastic year at KCIA!
