My name is Lauren Weeks and I am the sixth grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher. Back in 2009, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, and I worked with a college for six years as a Financial Aid Coordinator and then a Compliance Coordinator. I realized my true passion was teaching and decided to go back to school in 2014. In December of 2016, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with my Master’s Degree in teaching and my certification to teach English Language Arts. I started working at KCIA two days after I graduated, and I am so thankful to be a part of this family! The ELA department at KCIA adopted a new program called Wit and Wisdom last year, and I am so excited to see how the children continue to grow, learn and challenge themselves with this engaging and rigorous program. I am one of the cross country coaches here at KCIA and a teacher advisor for the student council. I am married to my husband, Kyle, and we have two beautiful little girls, Maddie (4.5 years) and Katelyn (4 months). When I do get some free time, I love to read, run, go to the movies, craft, and hang out with family and friends. I am so excited for another fantastic year at KCIA!
