My name is Karen Walker and I am the newly hired, part-time, speech/language pathologist at KCIA. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in 1991 in Speech Pathology and Audiology and my Master’s Degree in 1993 in Speech Pathology from the University of Central Missouri. I have been a speech/language pathologist for 29 years. I started my career in Liberty, MO and moved on to private practice serving children via Missouri First Steps. Following private practice, I spent the next part of my career in North Kansas City, Missouri in which I semi-retired in May 2022. I am thrilled to start my new adventure with the students at KCIA. My favorite thing about a child is their laugh! Within my personal life, I am married to a kind, caring and gentle husband of 23 years. He is an elementary special education teacher. Our “fur-baby” is the most timid cat I have ever had and her name is Jessa. She likes to hide under the covers during the day and run up and down the stairs at night. The most relaxing hobby I have is making cards with stamps and mixed media. I love going to the movies, with thrillers and suspense being my favorite genre. Thank you for welcoming me to this school!!
