My name is Gavin Bates, and while this is my first year as a classroom teacher, it is my second year here at KCIA; I was fortunate enough to finish my student teaching here as well as serve as a building substitute in the spring and summer. I grew up south of Kansas City, attending Raymore-Peculiar Schools for K-12. I started attending UMKC and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2020, and worked for a finance company in Kansas City for a year before deciding to return to school to follow my passion to be a classroom teacher. Last year I received my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I am so excited for the opportunity to teach world history, geography, and American history to such an awesome, diverse, and kind group of middle school students. I spend my free time playing video games and hanging out with my two cats, Ekko and Jinx.
