Hey y’all! My name is Ellen Andrews, and this is my fourth year teaching English Language Arts to the wonderful 8th graders of KCIA! It is a huge honor and privilege to teach these students about themselves, the world, and the written word. This year, I am serving as a mentor teacher to a teacher resident from the Kansas City Teacher Residency Program. I’m looking forward to collaborating with Ms. Jordan in our classroom and growing both of our teaching practices in the process! I grew up in Arkansas, earned my bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas Christian University, and recently received my Masters in Education through the University of Missouri-St. Louis. My goal is for all students to be able to consume and critically think about texts and effectively convey their own ideas. I hope to pass along my own passion for writing and literature on to my students! When I’m not in the classroom, you might find me spending time with family and friends (including my two cats, Margot and Luna), cooking up a new recipe, catching up on my favorite podcasts, or, of course, reading a great book. Here’s to another wonderful year at KCIA!
