My name is Alix Buchanan and I am going to be working in the TK classroom this upcoming year. In the Spring of 2018, I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I have worked in several Pre-K and Elementary positions throughout high school and college. These experiences include assisting preschool teachers, substituting in K-5th grade classrooms, student teaching in a Transitional Kindergarten environment, and many more. I have a special place in my heart for very young students which is what lead me to the Transitional Kindergarten Program here at KCIA. I am originally from Blue Springs, Missouri, but I now reside in Independence. I am surrounded by a loving family filled with my mother, father, sister, boyfriend, and three rambunctious dogs. I have a very close relationship with my extended family as well. When I am not at school, I love to spend time with family and friends, get a quick workout in at the gym, and adventure outside! Being a first year teacher and a new teacher to KCIA, I am filled with so much excitement toward the year to come!
