My name is Abbi Harkness, and this will be my 3rd year at KCIA teaching (including my student teaching year), and almost 5th year in education. I have worked with City Year Denver to provide near peer tutoring to 8th graders and have also worked with TAPIF (Teaching assistant program in France) teaching English to High School students. Both of these experiences led me to the Educator Academy where I received my Middle School English Teaching certificate, and received my Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from UMKC in May 2025. I am extremely excited for this upcoming school year and for all the work KCIA will do this year with students. A little about me, I was born and raised in Kansas City and am very passionate about this city! I also love reading, cooking, and traveling!
