My name is Kathlene Kane and this will be my eleventh year in education. I spent my first two years in education in Independence, Missouri one as a second grade teacher and the other a Substitute within the Independence School District. I then excepted a teaching position with Della Lamb Charter School in which I spent seven years prior to their change to Kansas City International Academy. I graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2010. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Prior to this I worked at Black and Veatch and The Tutera Group, both major corporations of Kansas City in a Supervisor role. One major goal I have planned this school year is to seek my Masters in Curriculum Instruction with the University of Missouri Kansas City in which I will also be certified in English Language. I enjoy spending time traveling with my husband and we both love history and hear of a variety of cultures. I also, enjoy taking walks with my dogs and taking them with me everywhere I can on my travels. I have a great fondness of reading and just spending time meditating in my backyard. I even put in a zen garden this summer. This year I am co-teaching 1st grade and looking forward to an exciting year at KCIA!
